Why You Need a Boudoir Pinterest Board

If there are a few photos on your Pinterest board that you would like to recreate, we can certainly accommodate that. However, the main reason why we recommend working with you to create a Pinterest board is to have an opportunity to “get inside your headspace.” Because of the intimate nature of boudoir photography we cannot allow this experience to be a “one size fits all.” It’s extremely important to work within your comfort zone and to do that, your vision needs to be accurately portrayed.

Comfort Zone

When you feel like your Pinterest board is as complete as it can be (or you just plain run out of time, because it’s just ever expanding), your boudoir photographer would like to talk through some images with you. First, he or she will go through your favorites and discuss why you like them. Your photographer is looking for patterns. Maybe it’s an outfit, lighting, mood, prop, or a focus on certain assets. Anything that seems out of the ordinary from these patterns may end up being a pose or look that is stretching outside of your comfort zone, or perhaps a little too safe. We talked extensively on consent and fluid boundaries on this blog. We find that when a client has a photo of an example of something that pushes their comfort zone, it helps in keeping boundaries safe.

Pinterest is for Inspiration and Communication

It’s important to note that Pinterest shouldn’t be used as a resource for copy-catting. Every studio and photographer is an artist in themselves and while inspiration can be drawn from Pinterest boards, it will be portrayed through the unique artistic lens of your photographer. If there is a pose that you most definitely have you heart set on trying out, we will, of course, do our best within our studio to recreate something similar. More often than not, clients find themselves enthralled with our interpretation. Part of the process is trusting that we understand you and will deliver the best outcome possible for you so that your boudoir experience is a memorable one.
